The Park

The garden is open to the visitors of the mansion. Probably, the current appearence of the garden is due to Elena Garzadori's will (late 18th century). She was the wife of Gaetano Valmarana, son of Giustino, the family member who appointed the Tiepolos to decorate the Villa.

Italian garden: the entrance to the Villa

Entering Villa Valmarana ai Nani through the Italian garden, the visitor is welcomed by many-coloured rosebeds and by the unique scent of sweet olive (Osmanthus fragrans, also known as Olea fragrans).

Back park

This park is bordered by two magnificent hornbeam tunnels, planted to beautify the space and to provide shadow in the summertime. On the northern side a big statue, representing a Triton riding a dolphin, is placed inside a niche of a nymphaeum.

Italian garden

The Italian garden is a formal, symmetrical space located on the western face of the hill, between the Palazzina and the Foresteria. Here, among flowerbeds, gravel walkways and box hedges, there are two impressive sweet olive trees (Osmanthus fragrans, also known as Olea fragrans).

Little Theatre

Situated on the western face of the hill, next to the Italian garden, the Little Theatre is rectangular in shape. It is bordered on three sides by a low wall and, on the side facing the valley, by a wall frescoed by Giandomenico Tiepolo and Girolamo Mengozzi (called "il Colonna”), designed to be the stage. There is also a well, placed right in the middle, which nowadays is dry. This structure was used for theatrical productions and declamations, organized to entertain the owners of the Villa and their guests.
